J. Bailey McShane is an experienced criminal defense trial lawyer passionate about defending the rights of the accused. Mr. McShane has handled hundreds of felonies and misdemeanors including DWI, theft, assaultive offenses, aggravated felonies and sex crimes.
Mr. McShane started his career in private practice focusing on criminal defense. To further his knowledge base, he relocated to work as an Assistant Public Defender for the Far West Public Defender in Alpine, Texas. Prior to joining the firm, he took a brief hiatus from criminal law. During this time, he practiced civil litigation in both Federal and State Courts. His civil practice focused on advising elected officials and heads of governmental departments. His additional practice areas included representing governmental entities with matters including Section 1983 actions, employment proceedings, commercial litigation, and personal injury defense.
Mr. McShane received his Bachelors of Arts from Texas A & M in 2011. He then served as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Captain. After leaving the service he went on to earn his Juris Doctor as well as a Masters of Business Administration from Texas Tech University School of Law and Rawls College of Business. He has been admitted to Practice in the Federal Courts of the Eastern District of Texas.
